from nail polish to the honda fit

so. i wrote, then i forgot the name and password of the blog, then i procrastinated because i didn't have a good subject, then i had a very moving subject, then i forgot the name and password again, then i practiced procrastinating, then, well, here i am again.

of nail polish and shamrocks

i worked for a little while in a candy factory, and although they didn't have any problem with my working there and coughing all over the little green shamrocks i sqeezed out incessantly, i was first given gloves to cover my nail polish and then sent home to think about what i had done. i might have come back to work penitant, but i quit. so i didn't.

the back cracker

today i had my first real memorable chiropractic adjustment. it was very exciting. it was mostly wonderful because i have been in an extreme amount of pain lately, and although i mostly attributed it to stress and poor body mechanics while massaging, it seems to have a lot to do specifically with where my spine is positioned inside of my soft tissue frame. i work at a chiropractors office twice a week, and one of the perks is that i get adjusted for free. yea me.
so he took an x-ray of my neck, (i hadn't at this point mentioned my excruciating lower back pain, because i didn't want to risk looking incapable of my job, after all i've only been there two days) looked at it, looked again and said mildly," i think that we'll take another one of your low back." hmm... does that mean that something interesting is going to happen to me?
so i sat in one office watching short films about the benefits of chiropractic medicine, and he developed slides of my bones in the darkroom, and then i got to look at them.
aghh!! i have a snake crawling up my spine! no wonder i don't like standing up. or turning over. or slouching. or coughing. well, that's a bit of an exageration. but it was getting pretty dramatic to twist or turn over or stand up from even the slightest slouch.
so then it was off to the cracker, (not craka, that's what i am, this is something like a massage table that you can't escape from, because your bones are making the most horrible noise, and if you make any sudden movements you might sever the thread of life that runs through your spinal column.) where i was told to lift my right leg, now my left leg, now rela--crrrracrrck! agh! now the snake is trying to eat me!
after it was done, (it was only 5 cracks) i stood up.
let me say that one more time. i stood up! i didn't stoop and walk off my hunch, i didn't put all my weight on my arms to try to shake my back out of it's funk, i just stood up. like a normal healthy 24 year old. and i turned my head. right and left. and i could bend over and straighten up. and twist.
so now, i get to be adjusted twice a week, and instead of a snake, i'll have a real spine soon, and life just gets better and better.

joey's birthday.

i have to just put in one plug for myself here, because after six years of mudling, i finally got it right. i'm pretty cool. it was simple really. as soon as joey got to the beloved but dreaded inlaw den, he was presented with food that could not have possibly been tampered with. ( except mybe the 16 year old kid who made it. maybe he spit in it.) then, after a small amount of time for small talk, (not enough to risk running out of things to say) there was an appropriate movie, one for small and large humans alike. then- wait. there were presents before that. then there was a little more pleasant visiting, then we went home. and somewhere in there was an icecream cake. an evening totally designed around the tastes and prefferences of the one it was celebrating. and you know what? it didn't make it selfish, it made it bearable. we didn't go home arguing that the other was insensitve. joey was actually relaxed and enjoyed his inlaws. he felt special. all those things that you want people to feel on their birthdays, he felt. so thankyou all of you who were patient with my demands for the day, i hope that you were able to relax and have fun and enjoy your inlaw, and next year we'll do it again!

the car sitch.

now, here is the last very exciting thing that has happened today. the jeep started to give us trouble starting. that is very exciting because now, we have to get a new car and the car we get is mine. and we have found a car with all the right specs. good gas mileage and small, but as versatile as the honda element. and reliable. and on the cheaper end of new. and it's mine. ours. but really mine. i have never had a car. and i never thought i would fall in love with a car, but it fits. we researched, and really thought about what i needed a car for, and how and when i would want to use it, and it's tailored to me. ME! if there is one thing that i always appreciate about my husband, it's his ability to tailor appliances to people. every one is special, and has different needs, but i never thought that appliances could be something other than one size fits all this is the cheapest the most convenient the most sold. instead, it's a masage table lugging dog carrying non carpeted gas saving anna mobile. mine mine mine! and joey will drive it too.

I second that, yea you! And let me say again, I love reading you!

I'm so glad Joey enjoyed his b-day party at Tribal Headquarters. And its so funny to hear you describe that: do you think we all make our ways home arguing about what the TH experience has been? (perhaps not Heidi and Todd . . .?)

Write more! Don't forget! No more procrastination practice! I love you!

Not only did Joey get a Lucky Star, he generously shared his fries and fry sauce.
