we ordered pappa johns pizza tonight. unbelievably decadent of us, but i have been wanting it for ages. we had a coupon,so what would have cost us 30 only cost 22. i justified it that way. and i made 70 bucks today. c'mon.
i believe in big tips. working in a profession myself where i rely heavily on tips, my minimum tip (that i give) is 20% and i try to give 25 or 30 (%). plus, it seems only fair if someone is pleasant and all around friendly to my dog (who always greets them happily at the door.)
so the pizza boy arrives, he's got to be 16, maybe 17. i asked if he had change (all i have is a 20 and a 10) of course he does, they alwayse do. he politely asks how much change,
"umm.... 3 dollars, that's a 5 dollar tip right?"
"umm... sure - wow- thanks!"
his eyes are all wide, and he looks amazed. i was thinking that was a pahtetic thing to do. ask for 3 dollars back, but we really are pretty broke. i guess that's a good tip for a pizza boy though. then it made me think of my darling baby brother, who spent many months as a pizza boy saving money for his mission. a noble and selfless cause, in my oppinion.
so, to chris, and all the other penny saving badly tipped pizza boys out there. next time i won't be stingy with the extra 3 dollars.

And they'll all worship the ground you walk on when you give them an eight dollar tip!
Two Christmases ago Andy was working in the nursery on Christmas Eve, so I stayed in Salt Lake and picked up a pizza to share at the hospital. I felt kind of, I don't know, a generic kind of lame to be buying pizza on Christmas eve, even if it was the most amazing pizza ever (if you're ever in Salt Lake and have the pizza-need, WASATCH PIZZA on 33rd South--CANNOT BE BEAT), but I did something like that too. Hey, it was Christmas. It's so fun to see people look at the tip, look at you, and say "Wow!"
Sweet entry, leelee. Did you know Geo used to be a pizza delivery girl?
Where is Annaleelee? Time for another post! (I know, I'm one to talk)
