We've adopted a fledgling

Right on the cusp of adulthood, and he's going to do it here where we can watch and give nudges and admire his feathers.

Jacobs little brother, Elijah, decided not to get on the plane today.

I had a very wakeful night and finally got out of bed when I heard Isaac get up to get ready to leave. I had dreams about swimming really fast and confidently across broad stretches of open water. I had dreams of finding my sewing machine broken. You're basic "life is changing" dreams and the corresponding feelings of excitement and worry.

Have I mentioned to anyone that I've been having a huge surge of interest in foster parenting? This is a great opportunity to try it out in some ways.

Life is pretty interesting and good.

Foster parenting was one of the hardest (and most memorable) things I've ever done. I have been thinking a lot lately about doing it again too but Ivan won't let me :( if you do do it (and you should!) please talk to me first so I can tell you my experience and you can learn from my mistakes!
